Returning to chess (January 15, 2007, 0) - I’ve missed playing chess. The chess books I’ve had since grade school
are still on the bookshelves, waiting to be dusted off and re-read.
I’m a little embarrassed about taking chess up again. I used to be on
the varsity team (not a difficult thing if you’re female) until
training for programming competitions left me with no time to

Riding on my bicycle (September 27, 2009, 2) - - Friday -
I rode the subway instead of bicycling to work. It took me the same amount of time, which I used to draft some blog posts and respond to mail. I thought I’d take the subway so that I could bring my rolling case and take my work laptop home.

Pride and Prejudice (November 19, 2005, 0) - My suitemates and I watched Pride and Prejudice last night. The
tension was absolutely wonderful. Then again, it’s a Jane Austen
novel. Of course the romantic tension is wonderful!
Unfortunately we got the American version with a _really_ _really_
sappy and very un-Austen-ish ending, but even that couldn’t spoil an
otherwise nice film.
My suitemates told me that the 6-hour miniseries
Buskerfest and other fun things (August 23, 2006, 0) - Catch amazing street performers at the Toronto
BuskerFest, which runs from Aug 24
(Thursday) to Aug 27 (Friday). I went to the one last year and I was
impressed by people’s skill and flair.
I love watching street performers. Every time I watch one, I learn
more about stage presence, drama and suspense, comedy and patter, even
