Studying Japanese

I worked through the AOTS kana CD without difficulty, but am humbled
to find that I’ve taken up only the first few lessons on the Kiso I
CD. The darn thing is needlessly Microsoft Windows-only; if they’d
kept it as a Flash file, I’d probably have been able to run it under
Linux as well. I tried a couple of computers before finding one with
properly set up sound and whatnot. At least my computer in school can
handle this—aha, the uses of a 266MHz computer!

In other news, I made it to the shortlist of candidates. Apparently,
Japan accepted 4 out of the 14 nominated by the Philippine committee.
Whee! Now I must hurdle this Japanese proficiency requirement in
record time. I have a week or two to get through all the lessons.

Banzai!
