Weekly review: Week ending March 1, 2019

| review, weekly
  • Kaizen
    • W- fixed the stroller wheels, which had gotten a bit rusty. Now the stroller turns easily again.
    • I upgraded to Android Pie. I miss the ability to quickly record a video from the main camera screen, but I’m sure I’ll get used to this way of doing things.
  • Us
    • W- worked hard on chipping the ice on the walkway.
    • Watercress and chicken stirfry: Yummy!
    • I helped Kathy dig into a few research papers.
    • W- cooked so much! Three kinds of curry (Japanese, Thai, and Indian), shake-and-bake chicken, and broccoli.
  • Gross motor
    • A- danced a “go outside” dance.
    • We watched videos of tinikling and pandanggo sa ilaw. A- imitated the dancers afterwards.
    • A- wanted to skate in the backyard, so we did.
  • Sensory
    • A- wanted to go outside. Even though it was -11C, she had fun playing for a bit.
  • Language
    • A- had fun pointing out opposites: bigger and smaller, lighter and heavier.
  • Music
    • A- had fun watching me tune the ukulele. She liked strumming it too.
  • Self-care and independence
    • I opened the PDF of A-‘s medical records. It’s pretty long!
    • At A-‘s three-year checkup, she measured 11.9 kg and 90cm. Yay!
    • A- woke up with a puffy right eye. She complained it hurt.
  • Emotion
    • A- found a large pine branch that she liked very much, and wanted to carry it with her. We brought it to school, but on the way back, we lost it due to the wind. She was upset about it for a long time, although she was somewhat mollified when I found another large branch to play with.
    • A- not only dressed up a baby doll in clothes, she also dressed up and wore the doll in a carrier. Wow! She used to be so anxious around dolls.
  • Social
    • A- and I discussed having a babysitter. A- wants to try again.
  • Pretend
    • W- made a big pillow fort using the sofa cushions. A- liked it a lot.
    • A- asked me to make a fort for her. She pretended to sleep in it.
  • World
    • I was tempted to let A- stay outside by herself, but W- pointed out that we needed a gate for the backyard. I think I’ll just have to get better at enjoying the great outdoors.
    • A- was curious about the balance at school. We played with it a bit.
