| A1 | X | Sit in Roselle's class and observe how she does mathematics (ThesisProject) |
Sir Hermosilla Math dept 772 7712 - 9205301 Room 116
Concepts of symmetric matrices.
Spectral mapping. yponential - logarithmic
ANN - artifical neural networks - carpio's thesis - multi-collinearity TSR - gamalo's thesis. tree structure regression LR - logistic regression - genetic algorithms and simulated annealing, pasia Heuristics - where the classic methods become useless.. GA, simulated annealing applied to cluster analysis, need computation.
She will be reporting on neural networks for 90 minutes to 120 minutes.
December 18 is the lantern parade
Dr. Carlo Arcilla of the NIGS has lots of data sets to work on.
orthonormalization
hyperellipsoid! topological equivalent of the sphere
random vectors

Needs Greek letters and mathematical symbols read out correctly, and normal screen readers can't do that. Alpha, however, needs to be treated as a primitive - that is, forward character goes past it in one go. Customizable behavior.
Need to access concepts from before quickly. For example, spectral decomposition. linear combination of products of eigenvectors. The lecture proceeds very quickly, however, so it may be difficult to refer to the equations. You need to be able to quickly review a matrix or equation.
Need for several different 'views' of an equation, like TV Raman said. Quick browsing mode, where everything is just read. Then a study mode that allowed you to restructure it, or move it, or whatever.
Look into string compression for equations
For extra warm fuzzies, figure out how to differentiate types of variables. "what is e?" "e is a matrix." "e is a variable." "e is a 5-tuple", and the ability to review all equations that set its value.
Must worry about square roots and parentheses and ellipses. Maybe there's a way to use simplified terms...
capital lambda
pauses can indicate groups
grouping symbols ending
quantity
braille symbol is postfix in the way that it's written, so that's why it's better to keep track of quantity
... close quantity quantity for parenthesis
next term - to get out of the square root square root of x next term y
and then y fractions with fractions for numerators and denominators usually her brother reads it
he would say a fraction. numerator ... over .... 1 / (x + 5) base = returns to the baseline e^x+y baseline - 1

problems with tape recorder
exam: society of actuaries in the states sent the exam materials over, actuarial society of the philippines proctor had a hard time with braille
symbols too complicated.
problem with taking tests because braille...
screenreader takes only letters and numbers
unicode table!
asterisk = star the superscript and the subscript need to be aligned
Discussion notes - she makes note of equations and things she missed so that she can refer to them later, as well as typos in handouts that need to be corrected.
Suggested LaTeX.

Pronounce capitals
actuarial symbols are more complicated right hand and left hand superscripts and subscripts
need different views, which she can specify - order of subscripts
