Dr. Jaime (?)
This activity is the first in a series of activities planned by PSITE for this year. After our planning session and induction last month, we have agreed (also during the first board meeting of PSITE) that this year is going to be PSITE's faculty development year, and all our efforts are focused on faculty development.
Standardization of IT proficiency skills is one of the projects that has to be done not just by PSITE but on a national scale. After this activity, we are planning a seminar workshop on IT curricula. We also plan to have a national IT student congress sometime in September, a conference on IT education sometime in October, and computer science research some time in December. We have planned many big activities for PSITE, aside from smaller activities like outreach programs to areas where we haven't had any activity in the past. Chapter development remains as one of the priorities. I believe that most of you are from the NCR, and perhaps it might be fitting to think of organizing an NCR meeting or conference to plan that out perhaps sometimes next month with you as founding members.
So setting IT proficiency standards has been identified by ITEC as one of the important projects that have to be done. Towards that goal one of the efforts by the JITSE Phil Foundation is the pushing for a Philippine ITSE to be declared a standard by the Bureau of Products and Standards, and JITSE has already a lot of gain in that area.
During this meeting, let's talk about standards - what can be done, what should be done - but let's keep in mind that together with the standards our biggest concern remains the same - upgrading the teaching of IT, upgrading the competencies of university instructors, and that will be our main objectives for this year.
Hon. Fortunato Dela Peņa Undersecretary for S&T Services Dept. of Science & Technology
Specifically, two components or tasks in the work of the ITECC - business development and HR development. He belongs to the e-government implementation committee.
industrial design - fusion of art, technology and to a certain extent marketing concepts. Tell Martin? Skills needed in Cebu. Idea - use UP campus in Cebu for all these programs in industrial design, linked to Diliman? DOST people talked to industry representatives. Needs to be accessible, so not Diliman. UP really needs this kind of new expertise because FA enrollment is going down and youth are more practical - visual comm, industrial design. Need for faculty upgrading. Yesterday was in Cebu, first two modules in industrial design being offered, teachers from Cebu attending as well as some designers.
(note: Learn how to talk better than the current speaker. ;) Vary tone, emphasize points, don't hide behind the podium. ) (note: But his message is good.) (note: My phone hung.)

APEC TEL E-COMMERCE SKILL STANDARDS WORKSHOP - improving teleccomunications and information infrastructure
Oooh, good, learning materials and curriculum objectives! Maybe we should have a standards project for computer science stuff, too.

Host a CMMI workshop? One seat for free.
June 30. SQM. Room and food, maximum of 20 participants. They promote. They just need a venue and food. Maybe even two seats. Certified lead assessor again.
JITSE has several levels. The one given here is the fundamental exam.
(Note about flawed bidding process of election canvassing machines, open letter, advisory council)
We can ask MIS office to fund a few more people for the SQM seminar.

Go for the trainor's training curse or the software design and development training course? Ask about scholarships.
Maybe we should ask for a copy of the JITSE review material. P1750.00

Learner-pull? I definitely want this. They're thinking of massive archives of past lectures, recordings, testing, problems... This would be nice (well, maybe not the lectures part, but yeah).
Hmm. Digital divide?
Cognitive modeling of individual students! I'd love to have something like this running! I wonder if I can get this into CS21A.
What won't happen - Telepresence will not happen because people still need the human touch.
(But what if we could do home schooling instead? Small-group instruction? We think in terms of security of tenure, but is the classroom really that effective?)
Augusto Cambio(?) TESDA
MUST POSSESS the competence to move on to higher learning
cross-disciplinary knowledge, better communication and interpersonal skills
ability to work in a team
a strong sense of responsibility
attention to detail
Keep these in mind for CS21A
Task management skills
plan and integrate a number of potentially different tasks to achieve a complete work outcome. Should provide evidence that they can work efficiently to meet deadlines, handle a sequence of interrelated tasks and progress smoothley between tasks.
Contingency management skills
Respond to irregularities and breakdowns in routines. Candidates should show evidence of dealing with contingencies. For example: breakdowns, irregularities, imperfections, the unknown.
Job / role environment skills
Deal with the responsibilities and expectations of the work environment. The capacity to work with others and adapt to different situations
Key stages I think I really should require CS21A students to maintain a journal. When they run into a problem, they should write it down, write down what steps they took to try and fix it, and what they learned.

Assists in clarifying the unit title and notes any relationship with other industry units
Basic building blocks of the unit
Describe the key purpose of the unit. Describe the actions or outcomes which are demonstrable and accessable.

Ooh, something about excellence. How do you provide opportunities for them? Programs in computer science should not limit those who will lead the development of the discipline in the future.
