<p>Leah Culver wrote about <a href="http://leahculver.com/2009/03/24/happy-ada-lovelace-day/">Valerie Aurora (among others)</a>, who wrote about <a href="http://valhenson.livejournal.com/36132.html">being encouraged by the fact that there are female kernel programmers like Pauline Middlelink</a>.
